Louis “Buddy” Malatesta, of Medford, died suddenly at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Thursday evening. He was 87. Buddy was born in Somerville and raised in Medford the son of the late Walter and Myrtle (Burt) Malatesta. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked for many years as an engraver for the College Seal Jewelry Co. In 1970 he went to work for the Medford School Department as a custodian and served primarily at Medford High School until he retired. He was devoted to his family and will be missed by all who knew him. The beloved husband of the late Jean F. (Fuce), he was a devoted father to Judie Mansfield and her husband John of Arlington and Karen Eastman and her husband Merle of Attleboro. He leaves his loving grandchildren Elise, Brianne, Justin, Courtney and Craig. The dear brother of Claire Simmons of Wakefield and brother-in-law of Betty Malatesta of Medford, he was predeceased by his brother Walter. A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Judith M. Day Worked for iRobot Company TEWKSBURY: Judith M. (Murphy) Day, age 62, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital. She was the wife of Frank C. Day, III. Born in Everett on February 16, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Murphy and the late Rita A. (Bigley) Murphy. Judy was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury Schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1969. Following graduation, Judy attended Daniel Webster College and Hesser College. Prior to her illness, she was employed by the iRobot Company in Bedford. Judy was an all around sports enthusiast and according to her family, she was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed walking, bowling and visiting the Foxwoods and Twin River Resorts and Casinos. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Rosemary LeVangie and her husband Jim of Hooksett, NH, Kathleen A. French and her husband Phill and Elaine M. Bennett and her husband John all of Tewksbury; three brothers, Charles W. Murphy, Jr. of Methuen, Stephen T. Murphy and his wife Julia of Lowell and Richard M. Murphy of Kingston; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank C. Day, Jr. and Ruth Day of Arlington; her sisters-in-law, Sandra J. Day of Arlington, and Lorraine Rabideau and her husband William of Everett; her brother-in-law, Steven J. Day of Arlington. She also leaves 20 nieces and nephews, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 13, at 11:30 a.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. Beloved wife of 68 years of the late Anthony J ”Gaetano” Cipolla. Devoted mother of Marie Blouin and husband Thomas of Burlington, Lois MacGregor and husband Charles “Bud” of Bedford and Elaine McKenna and her late husband John of Arlington. Loving grandmother of Christopher, David and Marisa Blouin of Burlington, Kimberly Drolette and husband James of Bedford and Charles “Chad” MacGregor and wife Jill of Nashua, NH. Cherished Great Grandmother of Daniel, Jayson, Skyla, Anthony, Isabelle, Matthew, James John and Evelyn. Sister of Josephine Maggiore of Winchester and the late Carmella Fuca of Arlington. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Mary loved life from an early age and excelled in all her endeavors. She was lead violinist for the Chelsea Jr & Sr High School Orchestras. They won numerous New England competitions & performed on Radio. She attended the LaMay Beauty Academy winning a gold cup for “Best Style” upon graduation. After marrying Anthony following WWII in 1945, she went to the Cowan School of Electrology. As a young ambitious mother, she started the Mary M. Cipolla Electrology Salon. A profession in its infancy, Mary soon became a Board member of the Massachusetts Association of Electrologists (MAE). She rapidly climbed the ladder to President and then went on to serve as a Board Member and officer on the American Electrology Association (AEA) for more than 22 years. Through the many years of her children’s schooling, Mary chaired & participated in numerous committees at St. James, Arlington Catholic and within the Arlington Community. Through her diligent efforts she raised enough money from the Italian/American Parishioners of St. James Church to purchase two large outdoor statues for the grounds. In 1977, Mary was a member of the first graduating class of the Eleanor Roberts School of Esthetics and Make Up Artistry. As her business grew and expanded to two offices & several employees, Mary remained active and was the first to be awarded Honorary Member of the AEA and MAE. Along the way, she was the only female in her class at the Dale Carnegie Course. Mary’s success and ambitions continued into her senior years. At the age of 87, she followed another creative passion by attending classes for jewelry making and began her signature one-of-a-kind, hand-made beaded designs. Mary was still creating and selling her pieces until shorty before her passing. Mary was truly an inspirational woman who was loved by many and will be missed by all. Quiet & unassuming, shy & reserved but was always a lady and the life of the party. She lived & loved life to the fullest. Lawrence Anthony Potaro, Jr., resident of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 19. Born June 16, 1935, beloved husband of Claire Potaro, son of the late Theresa and Lawrence Potaro, Sr. and brother of the late Lorraine Vandiford. He is survived by his daughter Anita Chmilarski of Tyngsboro and her husband Frank; his daughter, Laura Honeycutt and her husband, Wayne of Huntingtown, Maryland; his grandchildren, John Chmilarski and Jenna Chmilarski of Tyngsboro, Matthew Holmes and Daniel Honeycutt of Huntingtown, Maryland and William Honeycutt and his wife Chatrigna of Bristol, Rhode Island; his sister Beverly Iafrate and her husband Ercole of Newburyport; his mother-in-law Florence Renna; brother-in-laws Angelo Renna and Frederick Renna, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Lawrence served with the 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Benning, Georgia, and then settled his family in Lexington. He had a long career as a Corporate Metrology Manager at Teradyne in Boston until he retired in 1998 and fulfilled his dream of living in Florida among family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life on June 6 at Devitos Funeral Home 761 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, followed by mass at the Sacred Heart Church, 770 Mt Auburn St. Interment follows at the Mount Auburn Cemetery.
